SRA Appraisal Institute
“The SRA membership designation is held by fewer than 1% of all appraisers in the United States. It is a designation issued by the Appraisal Institute for appraisers who are experienced in the analysis and valuation of residential real property”.
The SRA membership designation has long been recognized by courts of law, government agencies, accountants, financial institutions, and investors as the mark of excellence in the field of residential real estate valuation and analysis.
The SRA membership designation verifies the appraiser has both education and experience that significantly surpasses the threshold needed for state level certification, demonstrating professional knowledge, understanding, and ability.
SRA designated members make a commitment to pursue advanced education, maintain defined ethical requirements and promote higher expectations for the appraisal profession.
To be eligible for SRA designated membership, candidates must have obtained a minimum of a four-year degree from an accredited educational institution, meet experience requirements (3,000 hours of residential appraisal experience); submit completed appraisals for peer review, and pass a minimum of thirteen (13) examinations reflecting a minimum of 246 hours of classroom instruction on appraisal principles, residential valuation techniques, report writing, and standards of professional practice.
Appraisal users should understand that SRA designated members have made a personal commitment to being the best in their field. The completion of continuing education requirements assures that SRA designated members remain informed on trends and changes pertaining to real property valuation, enabling them to provide valuations that reflect the latest in professional practice. SRA designated members agree to adhere to the Appraisal Institute Code of Professional Ethics and Standards of Professional Practice, underscoring a commitment to sound and ethical professional practice.
An SRA is qualified to provide a wide range of services, including opinions of value, evaluations, reviews, and consulting and advice regarding investment decisions.
